Sep 26 Psyche!
Filed under (Uncategorized) by Glen Lipka @ 10:58 am

I had another dream last night. God came to me in a dream and said, “Remenber that Jets thing I told you? I was kidding. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA Haaaaaaaaaa HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAA HA HA HA”
He laughed in my face for 5 minutes in my dream. Then he put his hand to his head making a large L sign and promptly left.

Do you think the L means the Jets will win Superbowl L (50)? This year is superbowl 40, XL. Like extra large. Maybe he means we will win in 2015/2016? Yes, of course that is it. I am not in denial!

Oh, this is the bad news. Go jets. Please, just go.

Sep 22 Disappointment
Filed under (Uncategorized) by Glen Lipka @ 11:50 am

Speaking of Robert Burns. He had this quote: “Suspense is worse than disappointment.” I think he is right, but it doesn’t make it feel any better.

Also on Nip/Tuck, this guy had a quote, I thought was particular incisive.

You try making someone do something they don’t want to do. It’s like feeding them a shit sandwich. They may eat it, but they aint gonna like it and they aint gonna like you.”

Motivation is so difficult. This morning I tried explaining to Ethan about having a positive attitude. Is he moldable or am I feeding him a shit sandwich?

Sorry for the unpleasant visuals.

I am flip-flopping. I tried to install the 64-bit version of Vista. No dice. Too many drivers missing and it wouldn’t support dual CPU. Overall it was acting too slow. And I have 4G of ram!

So now my choice is 32-bit version of Vista and I can install the beta of WinFS. OR I can use the 64-bit version of Windows XP. The 64-bit version of Windows seems faster, but it is the same UI I have been using for years.

The question is: Am I more interested in testing 64-bit speed or testing new UI. I think the latter is the answer. 32-bit Vista. Ok, Im downloading now. Thanks Blog.

Sep 19 Perspective

O would some Power the gift to give us
To see ourselves as others see us!
It would from many a blunder free us,
And foolish notion:
What airs in dress and gait would leave us,
And even devotion!

I have used this in my blog before. I wonder if there are rules are being repetitive in a blog. My main goal for blogging to create a record for my kids to read one day in the future. But I wonder if they will be bored to tears. O the gift. It is indeed.

Ok, I was about to click save and I heard the pitter patter of little feet. (Jared). he pokes his head in and says in a whisper, “Daddy, I need to poop.” I say, “Ok, use this bathroom here.” He puts his hands up as if to say, Dont Worry and says, “That will be ok. I don’t need a seat.” Uh oh, gotta wipe his butt.

Sep 16 Tired
Filed under (Uncategorized) by Glen Lipka @ 11:48 am

I am so tired. Seriously, I feel like a sticky film is over my whole body. Like Plastic wrap clinging to my face. I need sleep. Too much to do. Not enough time.

Meanwhile, the Jets better win this week otherwise I am going to open up a can of whoopass.

So tired.

Sep 15 The Most Beautiful Thing Ever Built
Filed under (Uncategorized) by Glen Lipka @ 05:14 am

I was flipping channels on TV and hit a station where a guy asked the crowd,

What is the most beautiful thing ever built by man?

I think it is a great and probing question. Easy to come up with some cool things, but what is the one, the most superlative, the most beautiful? A difficult question indeed.

I have been thinking about the answer ever since. The Great Pyramid in Egypt is pretty cool. Stood the test of time. Perfect symmetry. Must have looked better when it was new, but it still packs a punch. But somehow I can’t quite give it the nod.

The Spitfire designed and built during World War II is a thing of beauty. An inspirational plane. Yet is it the pinnacle? The top?

How about the Atomic Bomb? If you can get past all of the killing and destruction, this is truly a watermark of ingenuity and perfect manipulation of nature. It is beautiful and terrible. But I feel guilty saying that a bomb is the most beautiful thing ever built by mankind.

The Eiffel Tower? The Taj Mahal? The Opera House in Sydney? The Sistine Chapel? How about the Oxford-English Dictionary?

I still can not make up my mind, but I believe that just by thinking about the question, it raises the human spirit. However, if I compare all of these beauties to an old sprawling Oak tree, I am left wondering how far we still have to go.

Sep 14 Pool, first time in a long time
Filed under (Uncategorized) by Glen Lipka @ 06:56 pm

I played pool last night for the first time since I moved to California. The funny thing is that I am not in California, I am in Texas. Anyway, I started off playing TERRIBLE. Slowly my shots started to come back. It was the worst I have played in 15 years, but it could’ve been worse. I had a good time.

Daniel is visiting next month. I will play Tennis hard for the first time moving to California. I hope my shots come back there too.

For everyone who thought the Bush administration took too long regarding Hurricane Katrina, I say, They went very fast! Look how quickly they tried to make money for their buddies! Honestly, this is sickening, but I am not surprised at all. Dickhead Cheney was down there this week to close the deal. Booooo.

Jets play tomorrow. Yaaaayyyyyyy!

I was watching the US Open last night in HD. Andre Agassi versus James Blake. Great match. Agassi was down 2 sets to 0 and down a break in the third set. He won 4 games in a row and came back to tie it up 2-2 sets. Exciting night tennis. Have to love it. AND THEN…

Due to contractual obligations, we have to sign off now and go to regular programming (Law and Order). They shut off the damn game! And then it literally was not on any single station in all of my DirecTV channels. I missed the final last comeback set! What the @#)$(*!!?!

Boooooo!

In lighter news, the NFL Season begins tonight! Woo Woo! I have the NFL Sunday Super HD Pack thinger. I am pumped up! GO JETS! J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!

Sep 07 Outlining in Excel
Filed under (Uncategorized) by Glen Lipka @ 03:54 pm

Excel is my favorite program, but it misses one critical feature that Microsoft Project has. Outlining. The best and possibly ONLY good thing about Project is Outlining. Is there a plugin for Excel to allow Outlining?

Other note. My brother’s blog is getting spammed. Comments by morons with marketing gimicks. I find it pretty funny. Sad, but funny.
