What a day. We started off by learning to GeoCache. It’s basically an international treasure hunt using GPS, a website and hiding treasure around the world. Believe me when I say, there is a secret geocache within a few miles of you. There are 3 within a half-mile of me. It’s loads of fun and gets you outdoors. Unfortunately, we screwed up three times in a row and couldn’t find the treasure. We need to get better at this.
Then we went down to San Jose to the tech museum to see the Da Vinci exhibit. I loved it. Da Vinci is one of my favorite human beings of all time. The kids were bored. Yeah yeah dad, flying machine. We are bored! ahh, kids, what can you do? At the meseum we saw a special IMAX dome movie called Adreneline. It was insane. We sat WAY too close. It was so big, you just couldn’t see it all. It hurt my neck. I have never seen something that big before. It’s not like IMAX normal giant screen. It’s a humoungous dome with the movie projected in virtual surround vision. It was awesome.
And to top off the day, I was watching VH-1 Top 100 hard rock songs ever and they were talking about the song In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly. It’s on the Wiki article, but I did not know that the original title was “In the Garden of Eden”. Say that phrase like you are Eddie Vedder. Slur it like you are drunk. Sounds like In a gadda da vida does it? Wow, I never knew that. Awesome.
What a great start to the new year. 2009 is going to be a GREAT year! (knock on wood)
