The UX of Windows Mobile 6.5

Last night, I upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.5 (from 6.1) on my HTC Touch Pro2.  I have to say that I am getting really annoyed with this operating system.  I don’t understand how they could achieve so little in so much time.  Droid and the iPhone are so much better than Windows Mobile that it makes me feel sorry for the people who have to work on this dog.  The app store is nearly empty.  The apps cost too much money.  The device is slow.  The interaction design is pathetic.  What the hell is going on over there??

Windows Mobile 7 better be a complete, from scratch rewrite, otherwise, this is just going to be one more piece of garbage upgrade.  This is worse than Vista.  (Oh my god, did I just say that??)  YES!  This is redonkulous.  Boooo!

The Bing maps don’t work.  The Google Maps are much better.  The upgrade blew away all my contacts.  I can’t seem to get the calendar to sync.  The buttons are too small. There is no “fun” in it. I could go on for weeks.

Ugh.  Microsoft has a bazillion dollars.  Why can’t they develop a decent phone?  Either they should do it right or get the heck out of the business.  Katie’s Droid is ugly, but the OS works alot better.

Hate to say I told ya so…

Now would be a good time to sell that phone and get a Droid Eris — they’re incredibly cheap, even for people in an existing contract, and the interface on the Droid Eris is absolutely stunning.

Whatya think?
