I can’t help myself. I love typography. It makes such a difference.
I tried a bunch of fonts from http://www.dafont.com/. They are organized nicely and have liberal usage policies. The only suggestion I would make to them is that they should use cufon or sIfr and allow me to type in my own sentence and font size and see what the font would look like.
Potentially, they could build an AIR application that allowed you to browse the collection and see the fonts previewed with any sentence. I would even be willing to pay 5-10 bucks for the app.
The one on the site now is Chaos Times. It makes me a little dizzy, but there is something I like about it. Something that reminds me of my own doodlings. I made a ton. What I really want to do is make a little program to switch fonts.
I could use the jQuery cookie plugin. I would have a drop down box with the fonts in it. Changing the font would write the value to the cookie and refresh the page. The page would read the cookie in PHP and then write the script tag based on the contents. Default would be a standard font.
Hmm, sounds like a plan. Now, I just need to figure out how to make it work.
