Funeral/Labor Day Weekend

My father’s father, (aka Papa) died last Tuesday. I flew alone to the funeral in NY. It was a pleasant affair considering the circumstances. Papa was toughness personified. He had huge hands and they were the symbol for me of his strength and willpower. He was “old world” and you could see it in his eyes. I was not very close to him, but he had a strong influence over me. I will miss him.

I flew back and spent time with Katie and the boys. We went to the beach and I got sunburned. The water was freezing and the sand was burning. How is that possible? I like swimming, not shivering. Ethan liked the waves and Jared was terrified of them. The waves knocked Ethan over and sucked him under. He got up though and was pretty exhilarated. I need to work more with Jared on trying scary things.

We scoped out a refrigerator, washer and dryer for the new house. Kenmore from Sears. Hopefully, they will be reliable. I’m excited still to move, but Katie is having panic attacks about it.

Life is like a box of chocolates I guess. You never know what you are gonna get.
