May 28 Apologies
Filed under (Uncategorized) by Glen Lipka @ 09:07 am

When a politician or any public figure apologizes, then the public loses interest. It is the act of full disclosure that we love. Catching someone in the act doesn’t mean anything if they apologize.

Arnold Schwarzenegger apologized for groping all those women and the public said ok. Clinton didn’t apologize for getting a BJ from Monica, in fact he denied it, and the public wouldn’t let it go. The firestone tire guy apologized. Janet Jackson apologized. Every one apologizes and the public says, Ok, thanks. We forgive you.

If Bush apologizes for the whole Iraq mess and the economy; If he says, “I’m sorry to the American public for giving its money to my friends. And I’m sorry, also, for leading us into a war based on a lie with no real planning for winning the peace which caused deaths of hundreds of our soldiers. And finally, I’m sorry for distorting the truth at every turn. You deserve better and I’m sorry.”

If he did all that, I bet he would win the election. People would say, “What can we do? He apologized!”

May 25 Kerry’s acceptability
Filed under (Uncategorized) by Glen Lipka @ 08:54 am

It seems that Kerry’s strategy is to preserve his acceptability. He thinks Bush will screw it all up domestically and internationally and that as long as he is in the right place at the right time, he will win.

Although I think the strategy is risky, I agree with Kerry. He is not charismatic. He is not inspirational. He is “acceptable”. And that is the only thing he needs to focus on. Never interrupt your enemy while he is busy destroying itself.

Iraq will only get more chaotic. Afghanistan will continue to be a warlord-run third-world heroin-producing embarrassment. The economy will pick up slightly, but not enough. Gas prices will hit $3 this summer. A backlash is due.

Prediction: Bush will lose.

May 20 Microsoft Project for Software Development
Filed under (Uncategorized) by Glen Lipka @ 10:08 am

Why is it that MS Project is not built for for the effort of developing software?

- No Requirements analysis (like Rational Clearcase)
- No Bug tracking (like Rational Clearquest)
- No Release/Build Management features
- No SourceSafe integration

I would have thought, with all the software Microsoft works on, that MS Project would have features galore to support that process.

Does Microsoft actually use Project to manage the software development of its own products?

I’ve been a strong advocate for all Microsoft products since I wrote my first program 20 years ago.

10 PRINT “Glen Lipka”;
20 GOTO 10
30 END

It was bug free.

May 18 Robocut
Filed under (Uncategorized) by Glen Lipka @ 01:38 pm

I cut my hair too short yesterday. I used Robocut to cut my hair. I went too far this time. Its military short. I think I won’t do that again.

The bigger problem is that my head is balding. Should I go Propecia? Or just let it go bald and cut my hair super short like Andre Agassi?

I’ve heard of this drug called Placebo, that is almost as good as any other drug on the market and alot cheaper. Supposedly it cures everything!
