Interface Not Supported – Windows 7

Windows 7 has been working well, but the other day it just stopped being happy and refused to launch any Explorer windows (like file manager).  It said, “Interface Not Supported” and that was it.  Come on Microsoft, please be a little better about your errors and give some information.  I google’d for a while and found a fix.  Re-register all the DLLs.  I just pasted the following into the command prompt. All fixed up.

Btw, if you copy all of this into notepad, and save as a .bat file and then run it, it will do all of this with zero typing. Thanks!

This didn’t work for me, either. I had the message “Explorer.EXE Interface not supported” with the EXE in capital letters, which is an indicator of a virus in the system. I got rid of it after rebooting in safe mode (push F8 on boot-up) and doing a complete system scan by Avira. It found a virus and deleted it. After that all was good again. HTH.

Tried this and it didn’t work, had to run it as a startup batch script because cmd.exe doesn’t work but it still comes up with “Interface Not Supported” when I try to open anything so I have been forced to create a new user which also isn’t doing very well god I hate windows why must EVERYTHING be so dam difficult?

    Didn’t work.
Here is what worked for me:

I found a thread about doing such weird stuff in a batt file. It was about Win98…
I googled a bit more and found that magic command:
    FOR /R C: %G IN (*.dll) DO “%systemroot%system32regsvr32.exe” /s “%G”

It took about 2 min and showed up a LOT of errors like ” Runetime error! ”
Just click ok on allll of them.

When the command is done… ENJOY 😀
