The UX of UX

User Experience is bad without

User Interface is drop-downs and pop-ups and menus and icons and accordions, etc.  It is important, but will be bad without

Information Architecture is the arrangement of data and controls so that they are easy to find and manipulate.  It is important, but will be bad without

Graphic Design is the colors, fonts, composition, shadows, textures, curves, icons and look of something. It is important, but will be bad without

Interaction Design is what users click on, talk to, gesture at, pinch, squeeze, tap and get feedback from.  It is important, but will be bad without

UX Research & Analysis is the art of gathering facts from the real world to help inform the direction of a product or service.  It is important, but will be bad without

Creative Problem Solving is what I do every day and call UX.  It is important, but will be bad without

Cognitive psychology is the study of mental processes. It helps you figure out why people do things and design to make them love you forever.  It is important, but will be bad without

Vision is seeing the future and knowing how to design for tomorrow.

User Experience is good when you apply all of these domains.  It’s all important.  You aren’t doing UX if you aren’t using all of them.  I’m sure I missed something too.
