Open Position: Web Developer

The CEO of Adchemy just asked me to reach out about an open position for web developer.  Requirements: HTML, CSS, jQuery.  The best situation is onsite (San Mateo, CA), but it’s possible for some remote contract work.

You MUST have a website.  No website; then don’t bother applying.  I am going to view source.  These are deal breakers:

  1. spacer.gif
  2. horrible indentation
  3. <TABLE> that should be <DIV>
  4. Any Dreamweaver tag
  5. Dojo or Prototype or raw JavaScript.  Ok ok, maybe, but jQuery is better than any of these
  6. Bunkness, something craptacular or general lame-itude

Adchemy is a kickass place to work.  I have been thrilled so far, and I am high maintenance.

Just contact me with the link on the right.

Can you clarify the ” that should be a ?” I personally find nothing wrong with tables — never have. 😛

Tables are fine if they are used to display tables. However nested tables for the purpose of avoiding CSS (padding/Margins) is wrong, to me.

I’m glad to see that someone else out there thinks Dojo is an icky library 🙂

Good luck with your search! 🙂

While I agree on all these practices, your limiting to people who have a website doesn’t make sense. If I want I can just find a well written website and upload it call it my own and send you a link. That isn’t a reflection of my ability. There are a lot of skills that you missed that are harder to fake and mean a whole lot more.

How about using backbone, kendoui, or knockoutjs so that you can manage your code without going crazy? Someone who knows server backend technologies inside out (preferably mvc based), javascript guru with excellent ajax knowledge who loves ux and innovation. This might do better than just being good at css 101.

@Jaime: This post is from 2009. 🙂 If you are looking for a place…I am actually back at Marketo and would be happy to refer.

    Hi Glen,
Yes, I am looking. Feel free to contact me via email. We could at least start a conversation.
