Twas the Night Before Solstice 2008

Twas the night before Solstice and in the Lipka hut,
we are wrapping and cleaning and cooking it up.

We have a big day tomorrow and lots to prepare,
but I have time for a quick blog post, … maybe, if I dare.

It’s been an up and down year with some good and some lame,
Let’s remember some of them, that’ll be a fun game.

Marketo Lead Management was launched a year ago,
It’s the best product I’ve worked on since the mighty Hotkoko.

I had responsibilities a plenty and the customers are loud,
but for right now, my feelings are proud.

Ethan’s in the the third grade and Jared, the first,
the halls of education can barely quench their thirst.

Ethan beat me in Chess, and I was dumb-struck,
I stared at the board and thought, “What the … nunchuck?”

Their smarts are showing more and more each day,
I hope I can keep up and not get blown away.

Matthew’s energy is awesome, it’s been turbo since birth,
“With seven Mathew’s”, said Ed, “I could surely rule the Earth!”

We had some deaths in the family, several in the year,
each person will be missed and their absence felt dear.

We wish they could be with us, but I think they’re somewhere better,
they have become the ultimate spiritual jet-setter.

We just had an election and all through the nation,
there is a feeling of joy, even that of elation.

For Obama was elected with a whole progressive crew,
to fill the halls of the Senate and the House of Reps too.

We hope this will fix our nagging economic woes,
because our investments have shrank and that really blows.

The Jets could make the playoffs for the first time in years,
but somehow I know, we will end the season in tears.

Danny and Molly and Lindy are flying,
to San Mateo and our house! No, I’m not lying.

They are bringing their laughter and their holiday joys,
in return we smother little Molly with toys.

But before I end, a special mention to Katie,
my muse, my wife and my special soul matey.

She sings, she teaches, she can do it all,
I don’t know where I’d be without my chained ball.

All I can say, is that Katie truly rocks,
that’s why I got her cotton underwear and three pairs of socks.

This poem has been fun, but I must bring it to an end,
I have chores yet to do and affairs to attend.

I hope you enjoyed this little holiday lark,
as I turn my screen off and it becomes dark.

Follow your heart and you will be allright.
Happy Solstice to all and to all a good night.
